I use the best parts I can source no matter what year they were made, and combine them for the perfect amplifier. I spend many hours hunting for these superior parts.
 
I started building my own amps because many of the new amplifiers people offer today do not hold any long term value, and quickly fall apart with normal use. The transformers may open up, or the tube sockets break; many times the RCA connectors come loose, or the screws that hold the speaker wires on can strip out — most of the time these issues just cannot be repaired. Most of the so-called USA made amplifiers sold today may have only one token part made in the USA, They state they are factory assembled in the USA, but if you know what you are looking for you will see, most of the parts are a low quality.
 
The other reason I build my own amplifiers is I can use some of the best triode output tubes ever made, in combination with my single-ended Class A output design. I can build Amplifiers that were never available or offered for mass production. I use 45 output tubes and low-mu 6SN7 triode tubes for sound quality, and to lower the chance of micro-phonics.
